Overview

Explore this 4.0-mile loop trail near Keller, Texas. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 15 min to complete. This trail is great for fishing, road biking, and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

This is a great trail in Far North Fort Worth across from the Alliance Town Center shopping area. Start at the Heritage Amenities Center. There is a large parking lot in front of playground. The trail is fully paved with majority (95%) outside of neighborhoods on greenbelt walking trails. It is great for walking or biking. There are several parks along the way to stop and relax or kids to play. It also passes by 3 fishing ponds.

Accessibility: There are 3 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of General Worth Drive at the north end of the trail. All of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved concrete and smooth. It is typically at least 8 feet wide.

The whole trail is estimated to be in the gentle (3% or less) grade category. This trail will likely be navigable for most wheelchairs/mobility equipment or stroller users. There are benches along the route for resting.

Review

The Heritage and Arcadia Trails Loop in Texas offers a pleasant, well-maintained path perfect for a quick suburban getaway. The day I hiked it was crystal clear, but the cold brisk north wind made the air feel much colder than expected, so dressing in layers was essential. Regarding suburban trails, it’s a nice escape—paved and accessible, ideal for a morning walk or an easy jog. The loop combines the Heritage and Arcadia Trails, offering views of the surrounding park and neighborhoods. However, it doesn’t deliver a proper nature trail's raw beauty and solitude.

This trail might feel a bit lacking for those seeking a more rugged experience. It’s not quite the immersive experience you’d get from venturing into a forest or mountain trail, as well-kept lawns and the occasional view of suburban homes frame the loop. It is a solid choice for a quick outing, especially for those looking for a simple, stress-free walk or run.

While the trail offers a peaceful stroll, it doesn’t have the same natural impact or sense of isolation that more remote trails provide. Still, the paved path, clear signage, and easy access make it a solid option for those in the area looking for a convenient escape into nature without venturing far.
